Athirappally:  located east of Chalakkudy in the district of Trichur, is one of the major tourist attractions in Kerala. Athirappally is a famous tourist attraction due to the 80 feet high Athirappally waterfalls that come cascading from the high ranges in to the Chalakkudy River and offer a chance to tourists to witness something wild and natural.

Vazhachal Waterfalls: The Vazhachal waterfall is also close by and is just a drive from Athirappally. These waterfalls set in the midst of ever green forests are a magnificent sight to behold and offer the tourists some enjoyable and scintillating moments – a real escape from the all the hassles of city life.


Thrissur, the Cultural Capital city  of Kerala, have the most significant culture Institutes like like Kerala Sahitya Academy, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy and Kerala Lalithakala Academy which promots the to promote the growth of Malayalam language, literature, dance, music, drama, folk arts, fine arts and artistic heritage of Kerala. Keral Kalamandalam is well known for its dance forms. The old name of Thrissur was ‘Thrishivaperur' which means the land with 'Lord Shiva's name'. The north east of the temple is the State Museum and Archaeological Museum is nearby (displays a good collection of murals, wood carvings, sculpture and antique ornaments).The famous Thrissur Pooram, celebrated during April-May is top on the list of cultural attraction of the city. Major Tourist Attractions

Vadakkumnathan Temple: Vadakkumnathan temple is a classical example of the Kerala style of architecture and has many decorative murals and art pieces. . The Vadakkunnatha Temple is situvated at the heart of the city.  The fireworks at the Pooram are a spectacular sight. Non Hindus are not allowed entry into the temple. The famous Thrissur Pooram, celebrated during April-May is top on the list of cultural attraction of the city. The Kudamattom, drum concerts and the spectacular fireworks are the famous cultural arts of Pooram celebration.

Peechi Dam: This picnic spot offers boating facilities. This includes a dam, garden and looks soo marvelous.

Shakthan Thampuran Palace: Also known as Palace Thoppu, the campus covers an area of 6 acres. Here you can see tombs including that of the renowned Shakthan Thampuran.

Kerala Kala Mandalam:  Founded by Malayalam Maha Kavi (poet) Vallathol Narayan Menon, offers intensive training in Kathakali, Mohiniyattam and Koodiyattam dance forms, instrumental and vocal music forms, the complex also has a large Natyagriha (dance hall) for performances.

Art Museum: Located in the Zoo compound, the art museum displays collections of wood carvings, metal sculptures and ancient jewelry. (Open 1000 - 17 00 hrs on all days except Mondays)

Town Hall: The town Hall houses the Picture Gallery where mural paintings from all parts of Kerala are on display.

Guruvayur : Kerala's most popular Shri Krishna Temple was created by Guru ("Instructor of the Gods"), and Vayu ("God of the Winds"). The temple's elephant sanctuary is within the compound of an old palace nearby. It houses more than 40 elephants that belong to the temple. Guruvayoor temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Mahavishnu, one of the Hindu gods. The deity here is said to be over 5000 year old and is housed in the square sreekovil, the sacred sanctum sanctorum.  The temple is the 2nd most famous temple in Kerala after Sabarimala. The temple of Guruvayur holds the distinction of being home to the largest number of marriages conducted in Kerala and also is the preferred choice for the first feeding ceremony of a child.
